Thank you Aunt Millie’s Bakery!

Thanks to the generous donations from Aunt Millie’s Bakery the Community Ministry is able to provide bread, buns, rolls, and other bakery products to neighbors each week. The bread is picked up by ministry volunteers fresh from the bakery. The Louisville location of Aunt Millie’s is located in Southeast Jefferson County and delivers bread products daily to grocery stores throughout the Louisville area. We are pleased to partner with them through Dare to Care. THANKS AUNT MILLIE!

Community Ministry Partners with

Old Louisville Farmer’s Market

The Old Louisville Farmer’s Market, located at South 3rd Street and West Ormsby Avenue, will now be partnering with the Community Ministry. The Farmer’s Market will donate any surplus produce at the close of each market to the Community Ministry for our neighbors.

Neighbors are invited to visit the Farmer’s Market on the dates listed. Individuals receiving SNAP benefits may spend food stamps at the market. Additionally the Farmer’s Market will triple the amount of your purchase up to $20. That’s a great way to extend the value of food stamps while purchasing fresh fruits and vegetable straight from the garden.

Donate to Community Ministry While Buying Groceries at Kroger

Did you know you can donate to the Community Ministry when you buy your groceries? If you shop for groceries at Kroger, here’s a way to help at no cost to you. To do this, set up a digital account using your Kroger Card by going to kroger.com. Sign in to your account and scroll to the bottom of the page. Under the COMMUNITY column, click Kroger Community Rewards. That link will take you to the directions to set up Kroger Rewards on your account.  When prompted for the organization, search for Walnut Street Baptist Church CSM/IRP or the code VP528. Select and save. When you shop, the Walnut Street name will appear at the bottom of your receipt. The Community Ministry quarterly receives a check of a percentage of everything that you buy. You can also call customer service (1-800-576-4377) to set up your account. For assistance or additional information, contact Janet Pearson.

July Assistance Report

The number of people living in food insecure households in the United States grew drastically in 2024. In the U.S. 1 in 7 people, including 1 in 5 children live in food insecure households. The Community Ministry statistics for the month of July are local proof of that national trend. During July, the WSBC Community Ministries provided food for 1,131 individuals. This is a record number of people needing food from our pantry. We also provided produce for 723 individuals, personal care hygiene and/or household items for 141 homes, and clothing for 280 individuals (including 100 new clients). The Infant Resource Mission provided necessities for 83 babies and toddlers.
